Summary of Issue
Your group needs to write a summary of your issue, including at least two points of view.If your issue is not controversial then you will share how your issue impacts different community members.
Download this Summary of Issue with POVs (points of view) handout. Break the tasks up so that some folks are working on the summary and others are working on POV. Remember to rename the document with your class code and group topic.
Points of View (POV)
1. Pro & Con: If your topic is controversial you will have "pro" and "con" perspectives. OR
2. Different Affected Groups: If your topic is not controversial, then the perspective will be how the issue affects
Feedback
At the end of the period, you will have your document open on all of your computers and your classmates will walk around and read your summaries and POV. They will write comments on the papers by your computer about:
1. What they learned or found interesting; and
2. Questions they have about your topic or clarifications that are needed.
Where we're headed ...
In your research, you will need to:
1. explain the issue;
2. give evidence and facts explaining the issue;
3. site multiple resources with footnote superscripts; and
4. provide different viewpoints on the issue. For example, if your topic is controversial, then explain the positions and reasons and science to back up the different perspectives. If your topic is not controversial, then explain how the issue affects different communities, ex. the colony collapse disorder of bees affect consumers, gardeners, and agriculture. So provide their different viewpoints and how they are addressing and affected by the issue.
You will inform the world about this topic by creating a content-rich website using Weebly. All material will be fist generated in a Google doc before being publicly available.
You will also document and share how has your thinking changed about the issue in your exploration of the topic?
